Location: Inver Grove Heights, MN

Duration: 06+ Months Contract

 

Job Description:

Responsibilities:

•             Perform routine and complex engineering, support, and administration of enterprise network services and infrastructure, including Routers, Switches, LAN, WAN (MPLS/DMVPN), CAN, WLAN, Firewalls (internet, 3rd party and internal), Load balancers (Netscaler), DMZ, Remote Access, Authentication (such as Radius), wireless authentication clients, traffic shaping and policy management and other operational/engineering activities as required

•             Consult with and analyze business needs, recommend solutions, and provide effort/cost estimate guidance for the purchase, installation, and support of network communications.

•             Perform Service Incident generated support, and administration of enterprise network services and infrastructure. Specifically, phone, email/IM, and in-person interaction with service customers and remote site staff of all technical understanding and capability levels.

•             Engage, interact with, and drive vendor and peer support team resolution of Network related incidents

•             Research, design, and deliver network solutions, including configuration and operationalization of routers, switches, IOT, and other network devices at remote sites

•             Conduct root cause analysis of network device, system, and service related incidents.

•             Create/Compose/Revise detailed documentation of specifications and end to end Visio designs for implementation and support of network solutions.

•             Train and provide technical support to new and existing customers of network systems/services and peer support teams/resources.

•             Establish repeatable processes/ templates to drive operational efficiency with continuous feedback/ improvement and assist in driving organizational adoption of a DevOps culture as it relates to the service and support of network services and operational support.

•             Proactively monitor, manage and respond to facility hardware, software and infrastructure problems in the support of network systems across the enterprise while ensuring compliance with change and governance processes.

•             Provide assistance in network planning, engineering, architecture and the development of technical standards and technical strategy.

•             Monitor, log, track and resolve hardware, software and infrastructure deficiencies and note weaknesses or tendencies toward failure within the full range of system lifecycle -- build, service provisioning, operations and decommissioning.

 

Required Skills:

•             Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or other technical program (Industry Certifications or additional years of network experience may offset degree requirement)

•             3 plus years of experience as a network engineer/administrator to include:

•             Managing and supporting sophisticated network environments, LAN and WAN architectures

•             Experience with interactive end-user network issue support (incident triaging, troubleshooting, research, recovery, with related communications)

•             Strong practical understanding of the various components and functions within LAN and WAN network solutions

•             Knowledge of industry protocols (i.e. TCP/IP, MPLS, OSPF, ISIS, IPSec and VLANs and Spanning tree)
