Candidate Responsibilities
This position will have a primary focus on LAN (wired) network configuration, installation, and level 2 support services utilizing Cisco 2900, 3700, 3800 & 4500, 6800 series switches.
As a level 2 support analyst, candidate will be dispatched to Caterpillar facilities through the Peoria/East Peoria area which will require the candidate to be mobile throughout the day.
Candidate will primarily support the America's region but will collaborate with network team members from the EAME and Asia Pacific regions on occasion.
Typical Day
On a typical day, the analyst will respond to, investigate, and resolve incident tickets assigned to the Network Support incident queue. Investigation of service outages with the Cisco network switches and associated operating software. As assigned, will configure and install new or replacement switches to support enterprise upgrades, expansions, or additions. Working hours are flexible but will require off hour and weekend support and participation in an on-call rotation. A lot of individual work with the occasional team meeting. As a level 2 support analyst, candidate will be dispatched to Caterpillar facilities through the Peoria/East Peoria area which will require the candidate to be mobile throughout the day.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent training required. 5-6 years’ experience required
Technical Skills
Experience with Cisco 2900, 3700, 3800, 4500, 6800 series switches and related IOS, required - 5-6 years of working experience, required - Knowledge of Cisco switch configurations, TCP/IP fundamentals, Ethernet, QoS, IP Subnetting, Cabling (copper & fiber), OSPF, VLAN Trunking, VLANs, Virtual Routing and Forwarding configuration, required Cisco Certified Network Associate, desired Differentiation Factor: More years of experience
