You can also come by your own vehicle or make your own arrangements for the journey, however, as per our calculations, the bus will be the most economical.

Event Details:

  • The transmitter will be a hidden VHF transmitter, transmitting between 144 to 146 MHz on a single fixed Frequency.

  • The frequency will be declared on the day of the event.

  • Participants will hunt the transmitter, while on foot, through hilly / wooded terrain.

  • When they spot the hidden transmitter, they must quietly pick up an envelope without being too obvious, so as not to alert the other participants/competitors near the transmitter and bring it back to the Event Control Station.

  • The total time given for hunting the Fox Transmitter, will be approx. 3 hours.

  • To ensure fair play and resolve any disputes, the decision of the organizers will be final. A neutral referee may also be appointed by the organizers to resolve disputes.

What you need:

  • A VHF Handy / receiver with an S meter display (for signal strength) is all that is really required.
  • (Optional) A DF antenna is a big advantage and is very simple to homebrew.
  • (Optional) Earphones / Headphones for your Handy.
  • (Optional) Any other DF tracking device is also allowed.
  • (Recommended) Cap
  • (Optional) Sunglasses

Free DF Antenna Workshop:

We will be conducting a FREE workshop on building your own DF Antenna in the coming weeks. The antenna chosen for homebrewing is the Steel Measure Tape - Yagi antenna. More later.

Clothing

There is no specific dress code. However, we strongly recommend comfortable clothing with long trousers.

Also carry a Cap to beat the heat and maybe even sunglasses.

Footwear

Closed shoes or strong outdoor footwear is recommended.
