New-ish to JMeter so I'm reaching out to the hive mind for wisdom...
We have people that for various 'reasons' are still using JMeter 5.5. There's a middle tier that can't use higher than 5.5.
Is there some way to determine if a given plugin is 'supported' on a 3 year old version of JMeter without winging it?

TIA

Apache JMeter 5.6.3 has annoying issues like file upload not working properly or the behavior on closing different TCP/IP connections that cause problems.
People have also told me about memory leaks on Groovy functions.

So i still use JMeter 5.5 because is more stable.

I have no trouble to use recent JMeter plugins with JMeter 5.5.

I'm not aware of any up-to-date table of plugins compatibility matrix with JMeter.

The example procedure I can think of is:

  1. Choose the plugin, i.e. HLS Plugin
  2. Go to the plugin source repository and locate pom.xml file there
  3. Look at something like jmeter.version - this is the one the plugin is guaranteed to work with
  4. Take a look at JMeter Changelog and see if there are incompatible changes which may have an impact
  5. Repeat steps for any plugin you're going to use
