You must start serverAgent at target server to gather metrics

Hi Andrey,

Thanks for the reply.

I am getting the list of jp@gc's under Jmeter Listener. But i am
unable find : jp@gc-servers performance monitoring. I am unable to add
this listener as it is not found in the list.

Regards
Ram

Maybe you have very old version? Check if you're using 0.5.1
If you use 0.5.1, then check jmeter.log for errors, and post here if any

Do you see PerfMon Metrics Collector in your listeners?

Have you any errors in your jmeter.log file?

Hi Andrey,

Thanks,
Yes, Perfmon metrics collector is available for me.
I have created my test plan as below.
No of Threads = 20
HTTP request= {IP:10.10.8.99/ Port: 8080 path:/ep}
I added jp@gc- response times vs threads and jp@gc- perfmon metrics
controller.{Host/IP: 10.10.8.99/ Port:8080 /Metric to collec: CPU}
After running Response time vs threads listener displayed some graph.
But perfmon metric collector still displaying "waiting for samples. "
Is this the correct way?
Regards
Ram

You should set up metrics to query from target in Metrics Collector GUI.

What about reading project wiki? Start here: http://code.google.com/p/jmeter-plugins/wiki/PerfMon

Seeems you haven't configured, or even not started your server agent. Have you?

Hi all,

we wondered, if there are any recommendations or scenarios for running
jmeter-plugins performance tests on hosts behind a firewalled net.

Often there is a platform (with multiple nodes) behind a firewall and/or
a load balancer (e.g. 3 webservers).
If perfmon ports (4444) are blocked there is the possibility of port
forwarding to the internal hosts.

e.g.

/ internal-IP:4445

public-IP:4445-4448 - internal-IP:4446

\ internal-IP:4447

A question would be, which protocol the perfmon data transmission uses.
If a http-like transmission is used, there would be the possibility of
using a proxy. I assume this is not the case but can anyone confirm this
so we could rule out this approach.

If there are any methods you use or can recommend to perfmon-test in
such a scenario it would be nice of you to post some comments.

greetings,
l.r.

Hi Lars Reimann,

Is there any solution you got for behind the proxy concept for Perfmon listener ?

I am also facing the same problem.

Would be great if any one can help me

Thanks,
Neeraj

Hi Neeraj,

we now use haproxy in tcp mode to proxy incoming connections. The scenario looks like this and works perfectly for collecting the data:

<haproxy listens on public IP>:<Portrange equal to number of nodes behind FW>

backends look like this:

backend1
server         web01 web01.example.com:4444

backend2
server         web02 web02.example.com:4444

The only thing to do on the nodes behind the firewall is to start the perfmon agent.

If you have further questions feel free to ask.

greetings,
LR
