is it possible to convert Webdriver Plugin to work with JSR223 ? Any guidance is appreciated !

You mean with Groovy? It does work, just choose it in the "Script language" dropdown:

Make sure to install latest version of WebDriver Sampler using JMeter Plugins Manager
