Hi,

If I dont want to specify hold time for threads as well as shutdown
time as I want to know when and for what time a stable platua exist
then how do I use parameters of UltimateThread?

For ex. I just want to run 10 threads with ramp up of 1 sec and with 1
loop only.

Thanks!

Hi,

Ultimate Thread Group have no options to limit loops count. UTG operates with test duration only.

Hi Andrey, Thanks for a quick reply, if I want shutdown thread and
hold time to be infinite then how I can achieve this with UTG?

Well, you can either set just really big numbers, or use native JMeter Thread Group where you have the check-box "Infinite iterations"

Hi Andrey,

This is why I made my previous request regarding ultimate thread group or throughput shaping timer. It would really be useful to configure some way to reiterate the test time or shaped throughput that you define with these plugins. I hope we will 'convince' you that they might be useful :). Maybe we should add some beer to the offer :D.

Cheers!

Well, I don't refuse good offers. I just can't get whole idea. How test time reiteration could help those guy with UTG? UTG use different scheduling principles from Throughput Shaping Timer...

That's because it's not explained clear, probably.

With the UTG:
 - now: you can configure 1000s of test, during which you fluctuate the number of threads however you like. Which is ok for a smoke test.

 - it would be nice to make this recursive (start from the beginning of this configuration when the 1000s are over)

It helps because you sometimes want to repeat the 1000s loop indefinitely, or for long periods of time. You could also copy the lines in the UTG config interface, but you imagine how that would look
if you want a 1000s loop to repeat for 3 days? (this is how I do it now, edit the jmx with a shell script).

Its the same with the timer, but the throughput fluctuates, instead of the number of threads - and it would also be nice to make the variation dynamic. But lets stick to the UTG, for now.
