Would it be possible to implement reverse mapping without having to use a second mapper?

Sure Alex, see RelationalJMapper:

https://code.google.com/p/jmapper-framework/wiki/ExplicitRelations

RelationalJMapper takes only the configured class, after you can decide to apply mappings from or to it.
