I'm once again taking part in a special benefit concert honoring the memory of my friend Helen Slomovits, who passed away in 2012. Hope you'll join us. She wrote some beautiful songs and brought so much heart, thoughtfulness, and dedication to healing to our community.
Saturday, June 11, 8:00pm: 4th Annual Benefit Concert in Honor of Helen's Memory
Cafe 704, Interfaith Center for Spiritual Growth, 704 Airport Blvd., Ann Arbor MI
Laz Slomovits dedicates this yearly concert to his wife Helen, to honor her memory and celebrate her life. Proceeds will be donated to two organizations: one that supports nature preservation, and the other, an emergency shelter for homeless children and their families. Both causes were very close to Helen's heart.
Laz will be joined by a number of guest musicians — his twin brother San on guitar and vocals, his niece Emily on violin and vocals, Jeanne Mackey on guitar, banjo and vocals, Laurel Federbush on harp, Ken Ishii on cello, Martin Torch-Ishii on cello, and Eric Fithian on bass. All of these musicians performed or recorded with Helen over the years.
