[lenny] Buffer I/O error on device sr0

Etch から Lenny へアップグレードしました。
DVD Writer(TS-H653A)で奇妙なエラーが出ます。
Etch では使えていたものが
Lenny では使えないので、困っています。

二度とお騒がせしないように、よく覚えておきます。
ちなみに、故障したドライブは焼くことはできていたようです。

前のメールで述べた通り、ドライブを新しいものと交換しましたが、
エラーが出るときがあります。
読み取りには問題は無さそうです。
焼くのに失敗したりします。
何やら、unreproduceable な感じの症状に悩まされております。
とりあえず、成功したものが 2 枚、コースター(笑)が 2 枚できています。

以上、今回は問題が再現しませんでした。
ハードウェアの故障ではなさそうな気がするのですが、
どうでしょうか？(もしも、故障ならショップに言う必要があるので)
ところで、wodim の -dummy だと growisofs の -dry-run と違って、
事前に書き込みに失敗しそうか分かりそうですね。
これなら、コースターをこれ以上増やさなくて済みそうです。

eject コマンドの実行は無関係でしょうか。
私は意識的に、CD/DVD, USB メモリなど、eject コマンドを実行して
取り出しているつもりなのですが、頻繁に DVD-R を入れ替えている
うちに、直接ドライブのボタンでやっていることがあるかも。

...と思ったのですが、-dummy オプションで確認後に焼いても、
一見、焼けたように見えても、ちゃんと焼けてないことがあるかもしれません。
全く信用できないので、とりあえず、焼いた後に、
diff -ru で確認するのは必須となっております。
今回、diff で確認していたら、/dev/scd[01] のどちらでも、
全く同じファイルのところで、
diff: /media/Session1/file-hoge: Input/output error
のように出てしまいました。(もちろん、dmesg にもエラーが出力されています)
ほとんど使ってない新品の iHAS120 の方でもエラーが出るとは。
別々のドライブで確認しても同じファイルでエラーが出るということは
「焼くのに失敗した」と解釈して良いでしょうか？
カーネルに潜む何かのような気もするのですが、
疑うのは良くないな。カーネルは自力ではハックできそうにないし。
困りました。時間がもったいないから、もう 1 台だけドライブを買ってみようかなぁ。

ひょっとしたら、原因はドライブの取り付け方の問題かもしれません。
ケースの上方(iHAS120)と下方(TS-H653A)とでは、
上方に設置してある方が振動音がうるさいのです。
だから、焼く時に悪影響が出ているのかも。
ちゃんとケース専用のパーツで取り付けたはずなんですが。。。
見直してみます。

ただ、等速で焼かないと_いけない_、という状態だったとすると、
やはり、ハードウェア的な不備があるということでしょうね。

これって、本当にVersionの違いですか？もう一度Etchに戻して
テストしたわけではないですよね。
私がDVDの調子がおかしくなった際に、最初はプログラムかなと思っていたら
ハードの問題だったことがあります。書き込みができなかったり、相変化型の
CD-RWなどがうまく読めなかったりするようなところから変調は来ました。
レーザーダイオードが死んでいくような気がします。
最近のノートのハードでは最初にダメになるのはDVDドライブで、次がLCDの
蛍光灯かそれ用の高圧電源の用な気がしています。
