Shouldn't we lay out some rules for this message board? Like... say...
no epicly random postings (... I guess kinda like this one). Of
course, all members can, or should, be able to post on the message
board, I mean, IT'S A MESSAGE BOARD. But we should lay out some rules
for this place.

I got one or two up my sleeve.

1) NO SPAMMING. This should be like.. the fricken easiest to figure
out. Don't spam about random stuff that people don't care about. I
suggest that you CAN make new discussions about random subjects (s/a
pizza, tennis, basuburu, etc.) But in an anime discussion about Ai
Yori Aoshi, don't randomly post, "I LIKE PIZZA!!!!!
LOLOLOLOLOLOOLOLOLOLOLOLOLZZZOLZOZZLOL."

2) No random advertizing, unless it's okayed by the Admins. I,
honestly, wouldn't be surprised to see random people coming up and
posting, "BUY CANDY FROM LEAH TO HELP SUPPORT THE BAND!!!!!" Ok, one,
this is the Japanime Club, not the band club. If we were to fundraise,
it would be for JP Club only.
Also, try not to publicly advertize yourself (no, not in the sexual
way either...jeez). The reason that Google groups has PROFILES is to,
well GUESS WHAT?, to profile yourself. There's a slot there that says
"Website/blog". Put your damn Myspace URL there, not on the discussion
boards all randomly.

3) Stay on topic, please. Unless the discussion subject is: "Epic off-
topic" and the point of the thing is to think of the most random piece
of... shite you can think of, then yes, I guess being off topic IS
being on-topic. But if the discussion is about Math (don't ask how I
got that topic), keep it at a math level. Don't go veering off to,
"You know, Catcher in the Rye has geometry in the beginning of the
book", and all of a sudden, we veer off into a discussion about the
Freshman Required Reading list. Keep on topic.

4) NO SWEARING. Look, we're a friendly community. I don't want to see
words like f***, bi***, s***, cu**... Seriously, we're not fifth
graders who giggle whenever one of those words pop up. We're in high
school. There's a reason why we don't yell out swear words in class. I
absolutely never want to see, "JASON IS A M*****F***** BECAUSE HE
DIDN'T GIVE ME MY FIFTY CENTS BACK!!!!!! THAT A**HOLE STILL OWES
ME!!!!!!!!!"

Will we really stoop that low? We're the Japanime club, not the Let's
See Who Can Swear The Most Club.
I'm hoping that only in this post (the one I'm typing right now) will
be the only time I see the bad words. I know I starred them out. Ok,
don't even star them out. I don't want to even get the notion that
what you're typing is a cuss word.

5) BIGGEST ONE: NO SPOILERS. The point of watching anime is for
entertainment. Last I checked, knowing the ending of an anime because
some a-hole told you before that Kanon ends with... It's not fun to
watch an anime that you know the ending too, unless you're watching a
remake or watching the same anime again for pleasure (no not THAT
pleasure). No spoilers, please. If you spoil, you basically just kill
the reason the animators made the fricken anime in the first place:
For us people to watch it for entertainment.

6) Last one, don't worry. Please please PLEASE. No references to H. H
= Hentai. That is the only time I will ever use that word. Yes, for
those who don't know, H is the basic anime form of... well.... erotic
stuff. If you NEED to EVER reference H (and I highly doubt you will
ever need to), just type "H". I think, by after most people reading
this post, most people will know what you mean. Remember. We are the
Japanime Club, not the Club of the Anime Erotic Arts.

I hope to God that this wasn't a bother to those admins out there,
some random dude in the club posting on YOUR message board. Yes, this
is your message board. But to keep order in the boards, we need rules.
Those are the most BASIC rules. If you choose to add on more, be my
guest. Just make sure they're... appropriate and... lawful for that
matter.

Those are some very good rules, Vince. I appreciate them. I will most
definitely keep your suggestions in mind (and on the message board, of
course). While I like your ideas, I think that we will only post rules
as problems arise.

First and foremost, this group is for the club's announcements. It is
a convenient and effective way to communicate between the officers and
members about upcoming events and goals. I sincerely doubt that there
will be annoying postings like the ones you have suggested that people
not post because I trust the people of this club to be more
intelligent than the attention-seeking anonymous forum dwellers that
we often see online. I, like you, cannot stand those people and will
promptly ban them from the group rather than make rules in an attempt
to tolerate them.
