안녕하세요 목장식구들, 

요즘 예지는 부쩍이나 미국 역사에 대해 학교에서 배운것을

종종 집에서 말하곤 해요. 특히 그는 역대 대통령들에 대해 관심이 많아요. 

위인전을 좋아해서 "Who Was" Series 를 여러권 읽었는데, 

다른 위인전 책은 뭘 추천해 줘야 할지 몰라서.. 한국책을 좀 주문할까

생각 중이었어요. 그러던 중에, 링컨에 대한 책을 여름때 읽고나서, 

글쎄 그는 그가 얼마나 헌신된, 기도하는 크리스쳔 이었는지 전혀 

모르더라고요. 그 이유는 그의 신앙에 대한 이야기나 어머님의 신앙교육에 

대해서 책에는 전혀 안 씌여 있었던 거에요. 

어쨋든, 신앙의 선배들의 책을 아이들이 어려서도 읽었으면 해서, 

(성경 인물들 외에) 다니엘 소 전도사님께 여쭤봤더니, 좋은 싸이트들을 

보내주셔서 함께 Share 하려고요. (아래)

그리고, 예지가 벌써 몇년을 오바마 대통령이 어떠냐고 묻곤 하는데, 

전에 전기책을 함께 읽었을땐 그가 참 좋은 사람인 것 같아서, 

그는 그가 크리스쳔이라고 말하고, 교회를 다닌다고 하니까 아주 좋아하더라고요, 

근데, 요즘은 교회 나간다고 다 크리스쳔은 아니라는 말을 더 많이 하게 되요. 

하나님을 두려워 하는 지도자가 될수 있도록 기도하자고 하죠. 

그리고 정말 분명한 것은 역사를 주관하시는 분은 하나님이시고, 

선도 악도 다 사용하셔서 그분의 뜻을 이루어 가신다는 것을 

명심해야 겠어요. 

그 부분에 대해서도 다니엘 전도사님이 답해주신 것을 (아래) 참조해 보세요. 

나라와 민족을 위한 기도를 아이들과 함께 하는것은 아주 중요하다고 생각이 되네요. 그들이 앞으로 중요한 때에 영적 리더들로 설 테니까요. 

아이들과도 함께 기도해요. 특히 영적으로 타락한 이 땅과 리더쉽을 위해. 

다음주 화요일 10/7 여성예배 때 이에스더 전도사님께서 자녀교육 세미너/간증

을 전해주신다고 했는데, 그것을 위해서도 더 간절하게 기도해야 겠어요. 

시간을 정해서 엄마들이 함께 기도했으면 해요. 함께 금식해 주실분은 제게 알려주세요.

I'm glad to hear that you're encouraging Claire to read Christian biographies. I need to make some time to read some more myself.

In regards to answering the question about whether the President is Christian - I would answer it this way:

The Bible teaches us that one day, Jesus will come again to judge the whole world. On that day, Jesus will separate everyone into two groups. The people in one group will be those who believed in him and lived their lives for him. The other group of people will be those who did not trust in Jesus and did not live their lives for him. On that day, every secret will be revealed and no one will be able to hide from the truth. So we can never say for sure who is a Christian and who isn't (see Matthew 25:31-46). 

But the Bible also teaches us that a true Christian is not somebody who simply says that they are Christian. A true Christian will live out what they believe. They will not just say that they believe in God or Jesus, but they will live their lives loving God and loving people. In other words, a Christian is someone who trusts in Jesus and because they trust in Jesus they follow him by obeying his words. A Christian can't trust in Jesus without following him. A Christian also can't follow Jesus without trusting in him (see James 2:14-26).

So is President Obama a Christian? We can't know for sure. But we can have a pretty good idea based on learning about what he believes. President Obama said that he's a Christian and that he believes in Jesus. But he also believes in certain things that go against God's Word in the Bible. This makes it hard for me to look at him as a true Christian. For example, he believes that there are many paths to heaven when the Bible clearly teaches us that Jesus is the only way (John 14:6). 

Now, sometimes I wish that our President was a Christian. But we have to remember that what's really important is remembering that God is sovereign. God is always in control. God can use both good and evil and both Christians and non-Christians to make all his plans come true. As Christians, we trust and follow Jesus as our King. No president can ever change that. We can still pray for our presidents and ask that God would use them in his wise and good ways. We shouldn't look down on people who aren't Christian. After all, the only reason we are Christian is because God showed us his grace. It's not because we deserved it. It's not because we're better people than others. It's just that God chose to love us with his free grace. That makes us want to worship him and tell others about God's amazing love! Praise God for his grace and let's live our lives loving God and people, no matter who they are!
