Hi,

In the two examples in
http://morch.com/download/noindex/jQuery/jlayoutGridFlexGrid.html
I was expecting in both instances to have a top right div with four
lines - just high enough to contain all the contents of the div.

What is wrong with my examples (or my expectations :-D)?

Hi,

You need to set display: inline-block on the child elements as well.
You also have some stray 'container' elements in your document (not
sure if they cause any problems, but couldn't hurt to take them out as
it creates invalid XHTML markup.)

Doing that will fix the grid layout, but not the flexGrid layout. I
think flexGrid needs some fixing on my side. Most people expect
different behaviour than what it does (I'm working on a replacement
more in line with the CSS3 box layout module, but haven't finished it
yet.)

Yes, that did the trick for the grid layout.

Wups, did that too.

Both these changes can now be found as
http://morch.com/download/noindex/jQuery/jlayoutGridFlexGrid-2.html
and I'll try to attach this file and the one from my previous post for
posterity, but I'm affraid Google Groups will delete my attachments
though...

Ok, so flexGrid doesn't do what I'm expecting. I'll stay tuned and just
do it myself using raw javascript/jQuery in the meantime. Thanks!
