Dear Jitendra,

September 5th, “Teacher’s day” was celebrated by the whole nation. The teachers lead the world from the darkness to the brightness by igniting the light of the education.

Malala Yousafzai has said, “ One book, one pen, one child, and one teacher can change the world.”

Mahatma Gandhi has said, “I have always felt that the true text-book for the pupil is his teacher.”

The teachers are the second parents in anyone’s life. They are the stepping-stones that moulds and nourishes child’s raw talent and potential.

Let’s pay the honour to all such great teachers who added something in our life and motivated us to something which we are!!!

The last fortnight, has seen, some of the greatest news across the industry.

GST Model law has finally seen the parliamentary nod from 17 States viz. Assam(August 12), Bihar (August 16), Jharkhand (August 17), Chhattisgarh (August 22), Himachal Pradesh (August 22), Gujarat (August 23), Madhya Pradesh (August 24), Delhi (August 24), Nagaland (August 24), Maharashtra(August 29), Haryana(August 29), Sikkim (August 29), Mizoram(August 30), Telangana (August 30), Goa (August 31), Odisha (September 1), Rajasthan (September 2) and Puducherry (September 2) making the count 17.

This is the required number of states which would be needed for the presidential assent. The three weeks’ time and ratification by 17 states is a good example of co-operation between the Central Government and State Governments. This boosts the confidence in the industry as well and a motivation that GST will lead to a better and more certain taxation regime.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Monday formally notified the appointment of Urjit Patel as the 24th governor of the central bank, effective September 4. He had been serving as deputy governor since January 2013. As deputy governor, he chaired the expert committee to revise and strengthen the monetary policy framework. Representing India, he actively participated in steering the signing into force of the inter-governmental treaty and the inter-central bank agreement among Brics nations, which led to the establishment of the contingent reserve arrangement, a swap line framework among the central banks of these countries.

With the above news, we, Team Exactitude, as a part of our continuous endeavour to bring the latest happenings in the fields of finance and taxation and corporate matters, present our next Milespost.

Happy reading! Team Exactitude!

Exactly

In 1984 of the Tokyo International Marathon, one Japanese athlete Yamada unexpectedly won the world championship. When reporters asked what make him such a startling success, he said that: "Use wisdom to defeat opponent." Many people didn't believe him.

Two years later, in the Italian International Marathon, Yamada won the championship again. A reporter asked him: "You have won the championship again. Can you talk about your experience?" Yamada answered the reporter the same as last time:" I use wisdom to defeat opponent." Everyone was puzzled by his so-called wisdom.

Ten years later, the mystery is finally discovered. Yamada write his autobiography and he says: "Before each game, I will travel the whole route and check it carefully. I will mark some important signs alone the road, such as the first mark is a bank, the second mark is a tree, and the third mark is a red house, thus mark to the end. When the race begins, I run as fast as I can towards the first goal, the bank. When I arrive at the bank, I will strive for the second goal, the tree. I break the whole marathon route into many small goals and finish them one by one easily. At first I don't know this method and set my goal at the end of the 40 kilometers marathon. Usually I get exhausted in the first 10 kilometers because I am frighten by the remote distance."

Out of the box

A businessman who needed millions of dollars to clinch an important deal went to church to pray for the money.

By chance he knelt next to a man who was praying for $100 to pay an urgent debt.

The businessman took out his wallet and pressed $100 into the other man’s hand.

Overjoyed, the man got up and left the church.

The businessman then closed his eyes and prayed, “And now, Lord, that I have your undivided attention….”
