Rufus Windows 11 Error

Iwanted to make a bootable USB drive using Rufus. I opened the program went with all the default options and I clicked start BUT what I forgot to do is to select an iso because I thought it would just make the disk bootable without selecting anything. Unfortunately it did not. It gave me an error. I do not remember it because this was about 6 months ago after I gave up in fixing it. Anyway I tried to reformat it again using diskpart and it fails. With Rufus it says "ERROR while partitioning drive" and I think that was the initial error as well. Also during the struggle I got messages from windows saying that the disk is write protected and NO, there is no switch for that on the USB pendrive.

A very common indicator that the flash memory on your USB drive became defective, and that the USB controller switched to read-only mode to give you a chance to read your data, if possible. Flash memory is not everlasting and will fail as you use it, eventually. This can happen while using Rufus or while simply copying files using Windows Explorer.

It kinda feels odd answering your own question. Anyway I fixed the flash by using Transcend's very own flash drive recovery software that is available on their website. I guess Ill only be buying external storage from Transcend and I would recommend everybody else to buy their products just because of this. Also, when I see lots of people saying that your flash drive became defective or something I just do not want to believe them especially when your product is still new or not that old for I have proved the 'experts' wrong right here!

I can manipulate my USB flash memory with diskpart utility of Windows (I have full access to it) but when I want to create a bootable usb by using Win32 Disk Imager or rufus, both of them fails with an access denied error.

To check and disable it in Windows 10, go to the Windows Settings (The cog wheel in the Start Menu), then to "Updates and Security", "Windows Security" (on the left), "Virus protection". Then at the bottom, there is "Ransomware protection". Click on it, then turn off "Controlled folder access". (This of course leaves your files vulnerable, should there be undetected Ransomware on your machine, but you have a backup anyway, don't you?)

I encountered a similar problem while installing ParrotOs. However, things worked out after using the default Rufus rather than the portable version. The portable version causes such issues sometimes.

The problem is that some security solutions consider that USB Flash Drive access to reformat or change partition data is the sign of a malware infection, and make no provision for legitimate access such as the one from Win32 disk imager or Rufus (they may whitelist diskpart so that it won't produce an error, but that's about it).

Alternatively, some poorly designed software appear to keep a handle to removable drives (basically they are telling the OS: "Please keep that drive open for me, I may need it"), instead of just reopening the drive when actually required, which may also result in Access Denied.

Like others said, something can block access to drives, to verify that run Windows in Safe Mode.I had similar problem with Rufus 3.14, tryied portable and nonportable version, compatibility modes and closing almost all processes but it didn't help, the one that solve it was Safe Mode.

I'm trying to install Ubuntu 16.04 from a USB drive. I'm using Rufus to create a bootable stick, but everytime I click start, it starts, and then gives the error ISO image extraction failure. What can I do?

for me the case was that I deleted the rufus_files folder rufus created when it's ran for the very first time. Actually, I keep a different folder for softwares, so i only copied .exe after i did my first iso extraction with rufus and deleted the folder (rufus_files).

I was trying to create the bootable USB from my office laptop and got in to this issue. I have read many solutions and it didn't work out.From one answer they said it might be due to the anti-virus effect and i tried using my personal laptop and it did work out.

In my case, the USB drive was encrypted with BitLocker. I had to remove BitLocker from the drive before it worked. In Windows, just search for BitLocker from the start menu, and see if BitLocker-To-Go is enabled for your drive. Disabling it, then trying Rufus again to write Ubuntu to the drive worked.

However, if I try to install from a freshly downloaded iso from Microsoft, written to USB via Rufus (I can't use HPs own USB tool as it does not support USB3) I get the above error as soon as the installer starts.

I can read several other places that this has to du with the UEFI/Secure Boot option, so I have restored default UEFI, I have cleared all keys in Secure Boot, have turned off Secure Boot but to no avail.

Please make a note that -

* Try with new USB stick which supports USB3 along with USB utility tool.

* It is better to keep the .iso file in the server where the USB is connected.

* Sometimes you may forget to make it bootable. Sometime, people may copy the .iso image directly to USB, which will not work.

Step 1 : Verify the USB stick is working fine ?

Step 2 : Create USB bootable disk of WIndows ISO image using tools such as rufus, HPE Utility etc. Refer the link.

Step 3 : Configure the BIOS to boot from USB drive. (Configurations such as enabling USB, making USB device as first boot device etc.)

Step 4 : Verify whether the boot menu is showing the USB drive. If yes, start booting it.

I have the USB, it works in another computer and I also can boot from it on my Microserver, however, as soon as the installer starts it throws the 0xc0e90002 error that I have read several places has something to do with the UEFI settings or something.

My pc is very old, its a gygabyte GA-Z270-HD3P. I want to use it again since i7 is quite decent even for 2022. The issue is i stopped using it because of some unkown issue no one ever helped me with, now when i restarted it, it keeps giving me this error: exception scope invalid or Kmode exception not handled after saying "preapring for automatic repair".

I have not found ANY issue stating that windows 10 cant be installed on my CPU, and even though there are many vids and threads helping install on unsuported CPUs, i cant even do that since i cant get out of bios.....Its in a constant loop of restarting itself, entering repair, and giving the error.

@VonLuciffYou could use Rufus 3.x ( LINK ) to bypass the Memory / CPU / TPM check, as well as the forced requirement to use an online account, etc, other various things. All that does is modify the registry hive ( you could apply a fix like this yourself even, if you didn't want to use Rufus or another 3rd-party program. )

You could do the same thing without Rufus, by just using an answer file with Sysprep ( requires the ADK,) or loading the registry hive on a mounted ISO image (using DISM + REG / REGINI, or even a PowerShell Cmdlet.) Rufus is way easier, but both ways are legitimate ( make sure to install the latest drivers and cumulative updates, including the ones for the .NET Framework. )

NOTE: One of my backup PCs is far far older ( 5+ years old,) runs Windows 11, has the latest drivers, etc (it meets the requirements obviously, TPM, 64-bit processor, etc, it's just listed as unsupported by Microsoft, even though I can still get new drivers for it.) Most desktop computer motherboards from maybe 2005-2006 ( 2009 for some OEMs,) would support Windows 11. Of course laptops are different, typically a laptop from 2009-2010 has a TPM, anything older than 2008 is probably not going to have a TPM or even basic AES acceleration. With other operating systems, not just Windows 11, it would be just as useless if you wanted to use SHA3, TLS 1.3, or even AES-256 support.

Hello this is my first time using etcher so please bear with me here but im trying to make a bootable snow leopard mac os on a usb drive on my windows computer and this is the error I got from etcher, the ISO im using is a snow leopard iso i found online but im not sure what a partition table is the while the mac did boot from this usb, halfway through installing with this usb drive it runs into an error so im not sure what the fix here would be, any help is appreciated.
