Dear TTDI Residents,
In light of increasing development and privatisation of public spaces in urban areas, the need for humane and sustainable city planning approaches becomes increasingly important to ensure a balance between development and livability. Additionally, in the face of climate change, it is becoming more urgent - for our communities and our future - to develop resilient cities.
Transition TTDI, a local initiative for resilient and sustainable communities, invites you to a dialogue session entitled 'Cities in Transition', an exchange of local experiences and perspectives by three panel speakers:
i) Sheena Moses (Green building specialist, Powershift representative and community organiser for Save Wangsa Maju Forest)
ii) Leela Panikkar (TrEES representative and working group member of Save Selangor State Park)
iii) Prof. Dr. Azmi Sharom (UM lecturer on environmental law)
The dialogue will highlight the importance of humane and sustainable city planning, with a focus on:
- The challenge of privatisation and development of public green spaces;
- The need to move toward more sustainable urban planning approaches;
- The need for participatory, citizen-engaged and planned development, in line with local plans, as well as international standards;
- Possible paths forward.
