 JUNE
21ST
 2015
May’s fifth Sunday Combined Priesthood & Relief Society Lesson focused on planning for a wholesome  summer by including work, worship, and play in our family routines this summer.  Each week we will focus on a topic related to that lesson. If you would like to share how you are meeting these goals this summer, email me and I will place your comments in this column.

What are your goals for finding opportunities to include the principle of worship?   Are you having family scripture study by Skype or FaceTime? Having a family “Book of Mormon Challenge?” Planning a family temple trip? Consider ways to bring the Savior into your daily summer activities.
This Week’s Lesson Summary —Combined Priesthood & RS (The lesson this week was a repeat of last week’s chapter)
Chapter 11: Follow the Living Prophet
Teachings of the Presidents of the Church: Ezra Taft Benson
"The most important prophet, so far as we are concerned, is the one who is living in our day and age.
1. The President of the Church is the Lord’s Mouthpiece on the earth.

Learn to keep your eye on the prophet.  What does this mean to you?

2. The most important prophet for us is the living prophet.

What has President Thomas S. Monson taught?  See attachment for a list of themes he has taught in General Conference since he was called to be prophet in 2008.

3. The living prophet tells us what we need to know, not necessarily what we want to hear.
"How we respond to the words of a living prophet when he tells us what we need to know, but would rather not hear, is a test of our faithfulness…."
4. We will be blessed as we follow the living prophet.
President Wilford Woodruff stated: “I say to Israel, the Lord will never permit me or any other man who stands as president of the Church to lead you astray. It is not in the program. It is not in the mind of God."
"As members of the Church we have some close quarters to pass through if we are going to get home safely. We will be given a chance to choose between conflicting counsel given by some. That is why we must learn—and the sooner, the better—to keep our eye on the Prophet, the President of the Church."
