lol

I just can’t figure out what it is. It appears to be layouts for a promo flyer for a college event but I remember nothing about it. As with most college promos it doesn’t say which college (“U of O,” “EMU Main Desk”?), and like all promo fliers, no year. Says 150 Columbia. At the bottom lists House of Records, Hungry Head Books, Oasis Fine Foods, Record Garden.

Anyone recognize these clues?

Hi Cassie, all,

I did some googling based on a hunch and here's what I found: U of O is University of Oregon in Eugene, EMU is the Erb Memorial Union, and EMU Cultural Forum seems to have existed for a long time (https://dailyemerald.com/98830/archives/cultural-forum-brings-entertainment-to-eugene/). It says Sat March 6, and March 6 was a Saturday in 1982, 1993, and 1999.

Oasis Fine Foods opened in Eugene in 1986 (https://eugenemagazine.com/business/legacy-businesses/), so I guess the poster was for a show in 1993? Though Void of Course came out in 1998 and so maybe 1999 makes sense?

Funnily enough, while searching, I also found this post on Facebook - a poster for Jim performing at The Oxford (I think in Seattle). Commenter says it was sometime in the early 80s (the date would have been 81 or 87 for it to be a Wed):

Hope this is helpful and that you're well!

Best,
Patricia

Patricia, this is fantastic, thank you!

I am 100% sure you are right: U of Oregon Eugene. Now . . . WHEN? Given the press photo, I would say this has to  be 1993, because he had a whole new set of press photos in 1998. (Although the old press photo was still available and often used.) But the poster says nothing about the Basketball Diaries movie, and Eugene Foods didn't exist in 1982, so it's gotta be 1993.

Next: why do I have these copies of the flyer? I had thought maybe someone was sending me their promo materials for review, as I was JC's booking agent for a while late 90s early 00s. But I have no record of a performance in Eugene in 1999, so that wasn't it. And I didn't start keeping track of the tour dates until 1995.

So . . . I think a fan who saved the poster from 1993 sent it to me. They made multiple copies trying to get a good photocopy, and even resorted to using wite-out to remove "noise" from the copies.

Who the heck sent it to me?

Gads. I am still trying to get my files in order after too many moves and too many hard drive disasters.

Thanks, again, Patricia!

get the free version (i think it still exists) of Audio Hijack. You can rip the audio from youtube vids with it. It’s in real time rather than download, but gets the job done.

Can anyone here download and save YouTube videos?

I could do it if I had the dollars.

Can anyone download the treasures that will likely otherwise vaporize very
soon?

Listening to this one right now:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gvPTHNZWbo

I have no way to save this.

PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN!

This one is important.

Thanks,
Cassie
