Lots of Spam Lately

Hey all,

Just want you to know this group has been getting a lot of spam lately. The group is set up so I have to review messages from anyone Google doesn’t recognize (not sure how) — and perhaps unsurprisingly, considering the “light activity” of the group, Google only recognizes only a few long time members.

I wanted to make you aware of this because recently a couple of messages came to me for moderation that said like one word or nothing, just blank. Obviously some testing: is this thing working? That person then posted an actual message in some way connected to the blog topic. I still am not sure if it was for real but I approved it. 

Anyway if you send a message to the group, please be sure it contains content relevant to the group. I will not approve blank messages or messages offering bargains on gutter cleaning and such. And I will quickly ban and delete any spammer who sneaks in.

In the meantime, please be careful interacting with anyone who seems spammy or scammy, in this group and everywhere!
