Application for plot (shop) in Khagrachari

Dear Colleagues,

First of all, I hope that all of you are doing fine and busy as usual. Few days back, Kowshik and me were chatting over phone and at one point in time, he informed me about the opportunity of lodging an application for plot (shop) being offered by Khagracgari municipality. Mr. Chandu informed him that the municipality will build one shopping complex in Khagrachari main town funded by World Bank and soon will start the process of inviting applications for plots from interested and potential businessmen in Khagracgari.  In this connection, before I write to you, I tried to collect information from my colleagues (WB) based in Dhaka.  Yes, there is a project called 'Municipality Governance and Services Project' funded by the World Bank and the GoB created one fund called 'Bangladesh Municipality Development Fund' under the project and under this fund, there is a small Window for building shopping complexes across the country. 

In first tranche, they have provided fund more than 45 municipalities and now they are going to offer fund for second tranches and plan to cover all eligible municipalities and city corporations across the country. While talking to my colleagues here, they are quite certain that Khagracgari municipality will get fund though it is not 100% confirmed yet. According to guideline,  the plots will be allocated based on population, if indigenous people are 60% of total population then they have to allocate 60% plots to them. There will not be any exception but follow the guideline, otherwise the WB may cancel the fund.

Please note that all my colleagues advised me to be out of this because there will be a conflict of interest if I am involved here as one of the applicant. So we can apply through our company not mentioning my name in the application at all. Anyway, it will be definitely good if we can shift our businesses to the main bazaar.

On another note, I will be available on this coming Saturday for shopping for our JOOM Super shop and I need one more person. Please let me know who is available.

Dear Sugata bhai,

 

Thanks a million for your mail with information about the allotment of commercial shopping plots at Khagrachari CBD which is a very good news for Khagrachari Jummas if these are allotted authentically in accordance with the World Bank terms and conditions. If we all agree to apply, it would be better if one of us can make contacts with the concerned officials regarding application eligibility, application procedure, application deadline, Application/allotment  fee deposit etc. Also not sure whether a company can be eligible as an allotee rather than an individual, for both purposes, I believe kanchan bhai has to make the application since the trade license of Joom International Ltd was enlisted under his name. In addition, probably the trade license for the year of 2013-2014 has already been expired on the 30^th of June, 2014 though not sure whether at Khagrachari Municipality, a trade license needs to be renewed.

 

Regarding purchasing goods for JSS, I shall be able to accompany you this Saturday, if we hop in there at around opening hours like 9.30am or by 10am since I have an IELTS class at afternoon time on Saturdays. Please let me know if the proposed time suites you.

Dear Shubhashis bhai,

Many thanks for your mail. I think, the issues or concerns that you have raised are very timely and valid. We really need to know all required information before applying for the commercial shopping plot. In this connection, my suggestion is that we can nominate one member from our group who will be the focal person for this opportunity. He will maintain communication with other relevant stakeholders in Khagrachari and will always keep updated information on this issue. The main entry point would be Mr. Chandu as he was invited to attend the last meeting organized by the municipality and hopefully he has all preliminary information. So, Mr. Kowshik is being requesred to call him and ask the nuts and bolts of this process (if he knows or whatever he knows regarding this) If we need more information, then we can directly communicate with the municipality. I think that should not be a problem, more or less we know some of staff who are working there. 

Regarding the expiration of trade license, our Manager, Sujon can handle it by paying due amount to the municipal authority for extension of trade license. I will ask him to communicate and update us on the outcome via sms sending to all of us. Thanks bhai again to learn that you are also available for shopping for JSS. On other day, Kowshik also informed me that he would like to join as well. So, we all three can go for shopping then. 

We awill communicate again on Friday to fix the time and place before we go for shopping on Saturday. Guys, peace out, bye.
