Well depends. What is maemo guys want ! Specially, what is the maemo developers are comfortable with. May be more factor. Better ask on mailing list. You will get a very comprehensive, and exact solution. Also , such question of yours increase ur chances, as they can sense your interest, and dedication. So at time of voting, you get more " THUMBS UP ".

But be careful, think , Google before u ask. Dont be absurd, and most Opensource Organsizations are damm helpful.

Also check FAQs http://socghop.appspot.com/document/show/gsoc_program/google/gsoc2010/faqs

Why should one apply in Google summer of code

1. Make your contribution to Your favorite Opensource Software. Obviously by doing so , you get your name marked on web, and gain very good reputation as a Developer.

2. Get an Opportunity to Do Intern In Google

3. Get $5000 - around Rs. 2,35,000 as stipend.

4. Whatever Code you write, People actully use it. You get to maintain your project, solve bugs, and loads of cool stuff.

The process is :

1. Choose the Opensource ( OS ) , org. u are interested in contributing .
2. See what project , they are making, what they made last yr. Learn from last yr IDEA's.
3. Get to talk to the people of that community people, suggest them your idea or ask them about , is there an IDEA list. For this , you will have to get accustomed with IRC ( internet relay chat ) , channels of orgs. and forums, etc.
4. Contribute to org. , so that you could gain some trust. Patch some bugs, etc. The point is they should know that, you can do it. Show them .
5. Give them your proposal.

For anything more, read the gsoc-student list archive. Dont just post your smallest query on list, coz it goes to inbox of thousands.

For Any query post your Questions on Google group of JIIT-LUG : http://groups.google.com/group/jiitlug/
