Hi,

I have Microprocessors & Microcontrollers as a subject this semester.
We are learning assembly language right now and we use Uvision KEIL
for it in college.

Does anyone have any idea about a stable alternative for KEIL for
Linux because KEIL is a proprietary software and it is not available
for Linux as well.

I used http://www.edsim51.com/ for 8051, its free and written in java. Try any assembler available for 8086 or maybe http://i8086emu.sourceforge.net/

keil is used for 8051, on linux following may help:
http://www.8051projects.info/blogs/free-8051-microcontroller-ide-for-linux.html
http://gsim51.sourceforge.net/

Later you will be using dos based 'masm' for 8086, on linux we use nasm
