We could use a few kayakers on Sunday at Long Pine Dam for the MteC Race. If interested, let me know and I'll send you the details.

Jim Kirkpatrick - Susposed to be a great day on the water.

Anyone who wants to help out with the YMCA race on Sunday, we will start at the State Park in Caledonia around 7:45 am. Meet in the back parking lot of the state park. This race includes running, puzzle solving, biking, and paddling rafts on Long Pine Dam. What we need are several kayakers to help supervise the activity on LPD. This would most likely begin around 10am Sunday morning and last approximately three hours. More directions will be given on Sunday morning as I do not know the course for this year and will find out at the meeting beginning at 7:45am. They will have coffee and donuts in the am and a very good catered lunch for all participants and officials all afternoon.

This is quite an activity. Last year we had over 30 teams compete in the race and top teams take about three and a half hours to complete. Jim Nicholas sets up the course and with him being a former Marine, he certainly makes it a challange.

If you are not able to help out on the lake, you may want to observe this activity which is sponsored by the Chambersburg YMCA. I think this will be about the 9th year for this race.

IF you can help out on the lake, you should bring: kayak, paddle, pfd and if possible walkie-talkie radio. Also, you need a Pennsylvania Boat registration sticker on your kayak to launch from the parking area. It will be a fun event and your help will be greatly appreciated. Should be a fairly nice day on the water as well. Better dress warm though for early in the morning.
