Hope for Offshore Wind Power in Japan, learning from experiences in
Europe and the U.S.

Monday 22 September 2025, 16:00-17:30 Tokyo (9:00-10:30 Brussels)
(English-Japanese simultaneous interpretation / Free event on Zoom
webinar)

There is strong hope for offshore wind power in Japan as well as Europe
and the U.S. as means for decarbonization and energy security. Yet,
there are many challenges mainly due to cost inflation and other factors
such as business environment.

In Japan, there have been developments going on along with the 2018 Act
on Promoting the Utilization of Sea Areas for the Development of Marine
Renewable Energy Power Generation Facilities. Further, in June this
year, the Act was revised to expand the sea area for development to
Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).

On this occasion, we invite experts both from the public and private
sectors to the webinar to discuss outlook and challenges of offshore
wind power in Japan, while also learning lessons of experiences in
Europe and the U.S.
