I was looking at the DARPA robot challenge and noticed that they use a 3D software called Gazebo to ‘simulate’ the robot challenge and even seem to synchronise virtual to real movements.

I wonder if Gazebo has ever been ‘merged/linked’ with OpenSim or Unity 3D similar for distance communication and maneuvering.
Seems an obvious thing to do to me, but maybe there are insurmountable technical hurdles.
Why do you think DARPA would not use a dedicated OpenSim space (like MOSES used by US Army) or something like Unity 3D and JIBE?
Just wonder if you have some insights :-)
Thank you.
