Theyrarely sat or laid next to one another and even rarer played together with the most being laying in wait then chase the other for a few minutes. However we both work during the day and have no idea what they did while we were gone for 10-12 hours of the day.

If I were you I would play around with things cats know natively so that instinct will help with acceptance since cats lost more siblings in the wild than in domestication try triggering her instincts to socialize with other cats to hunt or just comfort with the occasional treat, brush or whatever she likes treat her like your own child and know what a child would go through.

Cats do not meow at other cats, generally, with the exception of kittens meowing at their mother. It's a form of communication they only use with humans. Therefore, she's definitely trying to communicate with you somehow, and not say, looking for her sister.

You might try taking your animal to the vet for a checkup. Sometimes unusual meowing can be a sign of a medical issue. At any rate, it certainly is a behavior change which may have been triggered by her sister's passing, but it also could be that the timing is coincidental, and there is actually a different cause.

It may also be the case that the cat is simply trying to get your attention. Many cats enjoy simply the presence of a human or another animal, and will do things like follow you around the house just to be near you. I've even heard of cats that seem to meow when they want to go somewhere, but also want their owner to come with them. If this is the case, then inadvertently you're encouraging this behavior by trying to take care of her when she meows. The best you can do then is try to ignore it, as long as you are certain she's not trying to communicate something else is wrong.

The first time I saw the coming attractions trailer for "Sister Act," I roared with laughter and delight. The second time, I laughed again. Even the third time I smiled. It's one of the great trailers.

Now I am left with this dilemma: Would I have enjoyed the movie more if I knew nothing about it, going in? That's a good question, since the trailer reveals almost every big laugh in the movie, so that when they come along we nod in recognition instead of laughing in surprise. "Sister Act" is a release from Touchstone, which was notorious a few years ago for essentially revealing the whole movie in its trailers. The studio said it was going to reform, but seeing the trailer for "Sister Act" will significantly reduce the enjoyment of anyone seeing the film.

When she accidentally witnesses a murder, Keitel orders her rubbed out, she flees to the police, and is hidden in a convent through a witness protection program. The mother superior (Maggie Smith) is dubious about this new "nun," but the other sisters like her a lot, and before long she's the choir leader, teaching the sisters to boogie.

There are laughs in this material, but most of them come from the dialogue. The director, Emile Ardolino, does not have a touch for comedy and his pacing is consistently too languid for this material. He has no visual style at all; every shot is the obvious textbook approach, to such a degree that the film seems directed on automatic pilot, but at least Goldberg and her fellow nuns (especially Kathy Najimy as the jolly Sister Mary Patrick) are able to create life and humor when the camera is upon them.

The rest of the movie is pretty dreary. The Reno crime scenes are played more or less straight. The crime plot - involving a stool pigeon in the police department - is handled so badly that the hero cop (Bill Nunn) busts the jaw of the traitor before he could possibly have been sure who he was.

There are good things in the movie, of course. Many of Goldberg's scenes are funny, and there's an older nun (Mary Wickes) who has some great one-liners, and when the swinging nuns start rocking in the choir, that's almost as funny in the movie as it was in the trailer. But mostly "Sister Act" plays like a missed opportunity.

Ardolino, whose credits include the heartwarming "Chances Are" and the dreadful "Three Men and a Little Lady," simply doesn't seem able to direct as if he believes his material is funny. It doesn't have the zest and sparkle it needs; scenes move too slowly, dialogue settles upon itself, routine reaction shots are clicked off with deadly precision. Whoever edited the trailer has a much better idea of what's good in this material than the man who directed the movie.

Despite having the same origin, the Eagle and the Sagres have lived very different lives, each changing names, home ports, and operational missions. But even after almost a century of service, both ships have remained training ships, continuing to teach the naval officers of the future.

During the 2022 Coast Guard Academy Summer Training period, 1st Class Cadet Hannah Bliss had the unique opportunity to spend time aboard the Sagres. Underway for several weeks, Bliss experienced both the similarities and differences from the Eagle firsthand.

In her time at the Academy, Bliss has taken every opportunity to serve underway aboard Eagle and is familiar with the entire ship. So, when presented with an opportunity to get underway on one of the sister ships, she took it, despite not speaking Portuguese.

At first glance, the Eagle and the Sagres have a different paint job. However, the differences run from mainmast to keel. The Sagres is much closer to its original configuration than the Eagle, which has been refitted and updated to align with its mission throughout the years.

In addition to the sail and rigging configuration, the ships are also dramatically different below deck. While Eagle has been updated to provide more modern berthing arrangements, Sagres has a more open deck arrangement. Most of the crew and trainees berth in massive rooms, reminiscent of old pirate ships rather than a modern training vessel.

Bliss recalled how she was able to share her knowledge from Eagle with her duty section, as well as personally learning a new set of leadership roles and understanding different approaches to accomplish the mission.

These are all great reads for detailing life with a new baby or what being a big sibling is really like! These would easily work for a new big sister or big brother and cover lots of the basics that they need to know and the things that make it a special time for them too!

The biggest hurdle happened when she was 16 years old, and the family almost lost their home. Mander recalls sitting in on meetings with mortgage representatives and trying her best to help her parents secure a new mortgage.

Vidhusha Thirugnanam is another exhausted big sister from a first-generation immigrant family. Growing up in Toronto, Canada, she helped her parents understand documents and Canadian life while setting an example for her two younger sisters. The burden of being perfect was heavy.

The goal is to feel responsible but not take responsibility all the time, Schuitemaker said. Practice letting others take the lead, even if it would be easier to address yourself rather than wait for them to do it. At 69, Schuitemaker said she still has to remind herself that her siblings and younger family members can care for themselves.

Tucked away in a hidden canyon within Cleveland National Forest, the hike to Three Sisters Falls is remote, spectacular, and fun. Boulder Creek cascades down three smooth granite levels, the "three sisters," and leaves fresh pools where you can swim, dip your feet in, or just enjoy the vibe. I've also included an optional hike extension to Eagle Peak, a stunning summit that dominates the landscape around the area, including the San Diego River valley.

Getting to the trailhead is half of the fun as you travel down Boulder Creek Road, which is gravel. It's doable by low-clearance 2WD vehicles, but does have many washboarded sections. Use this trailhead address:

Three Sisters Falls Trailhead, Boulder Creek Rd, Santa Ysabel, CA 92070

The best time to hike here is in the cooler months or early in the morning before it gets hot. Bring at least 1L of water, 2L if it's very hot. If you like to use trekking poles, they'll be helpful on the way back up from the falls. There's no scrambling, but some sections are rocky. If there's water in the falls, you can also take a dip, so plan accordingly.

Check out the complete list here. ( Updated July 2024)Three Sisters Falls & Eagle Peak MapsNote that this hike is a "downhill first, climb back out" experience, just like hikes into the Grand Canyon. It's much easier to hike downhill to the falls than it is to hike back out. You need to plan on doing the bulk of the work when you hike back out.

In years past this hike was considered very challenging, with some boulder scrambles and sketchy rope sections. Today the trail is rebuilt and rerouted, and you are able to just hike the whole way. There are no sketchy sections on this hike.

And if you fitness allows, I highly recommend adding on the side trip to Eagle Peak, which you can combine with a trip to the falls. I've included directions in the video and photos below. The Eagle Peak extension adds about 3.3 miles and 750 feet of climbing, making it about 7.7 miles with 1700 feet of climbing total.

Today they're an increasingly rare sight as suburban development encroaches on wilderness.
