Asalaamu alaikum all! SeekersGuidance (www.seekersguidance.com) will be offering free Islamic courses this fall (see below). Shaykh Faraz Rabbani is incredible and I think the courses can be a great learning experience.

Also, most courses at Qibla (http://qibla.com/courses/) start in September. Although Qibla courses cost money, I think you have greater opportunity to get more personalized instruction in the Islamic sciences.

Anyways, hope you are all having a wonderful Ramadan.

Best wishes,
David

Shaykh Jihad Brown’s brilliant Ramadan Khutbah
I’m Too Embarrassed to Wudu in Public

Shaykh Jihad Hashim Brown delivers a stirring Ramadan 2012 (1433) Khutba at the world-renowned Masjid Taqwa in Brooklyn, NY. This brief 30 minute Friday sermon gives the fasting an individual perspective and understanding as to what is important in life and how inconsequential life’s problems can be when one transcends one’s focus on this world alone. A must listen. [Duration 34min 32sec]

Click here to listen or download the khutbah.

Question: I’m too embarrassed to do wudu in public places almost to a point of phobia. Can I do tayummum as I can do that with more privacy.

Making Up for Fasts Missed Due to Illness and Menstruation

Question: I was never aware that you have to make up fasts missed (because of illness or in my case menstruation) during Ramadan until this past month. I have missed a few weeks worth of fasts over the years. If I know I had to make them up and it was sinful, I would have done so. Do I have to pay fidya? I have low income and I don’t work due to illness. Would it be allowed if I paid in installments instead of at once?
