Subject: JHUMA Undergrad Ramadan Series
Salaam Bros.,
Hope Ramadan is going well for all of you. This year especially, it seems there are many worthwhile causes to consider contributing toward. In that regard, I wanted to share with you a message I received yesterday from
Imam Tariq Najee-Ullah, the current Assistant Chaplain for Muslim Life
at JHU. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, all in-person classes at JHU have been
cancelled and the undergrads have returned home. They remain engaged
with classes and extracurricular activities virtually, however. To maintain community and spiritual connection during this month, Imam Tariq and JHUMA organized a nightly lecture series for Ramadan that the students have found to be very beneficial. It's a well-developed program, flyer is included below.
They organized this on the basis of their annual budget, but due to
recent student organization budget cuts across the board, they are short on funds to support the Ramadan lecture series for the remainder of the month. In lieu of hosting an Iftaar this year, the
Assistant Chaplain has requested whether the alumni would consider making a contribution to support the program. In total, they're looking to raise $2000, but would use any contributions to support the program
even in an abbreviated form.
If you are able to make a contribution, you can visit
https://secure.jhu.edu/form/givenow.
On the givenow
page, "other" needs to be selected and then "Johns Hopkins
Muslim Association" or "Johns Hopkins Muslim Student Association" needs
to be entered.
I've included additional information below about how to join these nightly sessions if you are interested.
JZK,
Shekeab
