Hello Joanne, and ACM

I have an ad for a workshop for women in CS hosted at CMU this upcoming October. It is forwarded below.

I believe WiCS would be interested? (I don't have their mailing list)

Hi Juneki,

Would it be possible for you to pass this information to female undergraduates in CS at your school?

Thank you and best wishes,
Hyeju

I attended this even a few years ago (2011) and it was very good. There was lots of opportunity for 1:1 conversations with CS graduate students (all female, I think) and with CS professors. The main structure of the conference was everyone being split into pre-assigned small (<6 students each, I think) groups, each with a graduate student and a professor to lead it. As a group, you decide on a project in the area, and then you have about a day to get enough done to give a few minutes presentation about your project (as a group).

It was one of my favorite conferences I've been to because it was very clearly and thoughtfully structured to give you time to interact in small groups with the other people there.  (Unlike more standard conference formats which can trick you into focusing on the presentations to the detriment of actually meeting people.) I went by myself and didn't know anyone there in advance (and am quite shy), but I never felt left out or lost or lonely because everyone was very nice and it was well-structured to prevent that.
