Does the ACM cluster have GPUs?  (Also, is data science stuff like anaconda installed?)  I got a message on Quora from a prospective undergrad who wanted to know about such compute resources for undergrads interested in machine learning.

thanks, jme

Hi!

We offer two compute services:

  1. Users can make virtual machines through OpenStack: while these can be allocated with many cores of CPU, they don't have GPUs. Since the user creates the VM, they can install whatever they'd like
  2. The ACM desktops (which can be SSH'd to): these machines have CUDA-compatible graphics cards. They also have Python and R installed. They don't have the anaconda distribution installed, but we can install software by request.
In addition, we have worked with members in the past to provide alternative compute services as needed.

Let me know if I can answer any other questions.

Great, thanks Marc!  Cc'ing the prospective student in question so they see your answer. :)
