Sam,

I would also suggest iRobot, The Matrix, and 2001: Space Odyssey three other quality motion pictures that have something to do with computer science.

Greetings all,

It has come to my attention that the ACM has been failing in its goal of culturally educating its members.  In order to remedy that we will be watching a "culturally foundational" movie at this weeks meeting.  Currently we are considering WarGames and Tron, but suggestions are welcome.

As always the meeting will be in Malone 228 at 6PM this Thursday.  Milk and cookies will be served.

The Matrix

computer science

Eh, yeah checks out.

Movies I watched with the ACM back when I was a student also include "Hackers", "Gattaca", and "Colossus: The Forbin Project".
Hackers and Gattaca were great movies. Colossus less so.

Hackers and Gattaca are very solid choices. But, it'd be a shame if this one fell through the cracks: Sneakers.

Sneakers is a fun movie. Nice mix of crypto techno-babble, phreaking, social engineering ... and astronomy.

And also surprisingly relevant social commentary on recent events!
(Well, not quite so recent anymore, I guess).

(We watched it at an ACM movie night last year).
