Hi everyone,

I recorded a new video for JHipster 8 yesterday and spent most of the day editing it. I got it down to under 15 minutes, but I did get tripped up a bit by the eager loading stuff and filtering by user. I did figure it out, and I think it’s good to have a video that’s not perfect. I think developers like to see others make mistakes, too, even when they’re experts!

The video is currently unlisted. I plan to add a TOC and publish it on Monday.

Please have a look and let me know what you think.

I updated my Micro Frontends for Java Microservices to use JHipster 8 this week, too.

Have a good weekend, y’all! It’s a pleasure to work on JHipster with you. ❤️

Hey Matt,

It’s awesome that you continue doing those videos!!! They have a huge impact.

Does it still work fine with Heroku? And is it still free to deploy there? You can use Azure Container Apps if you need :-)

Hi Julien,

Yes, JHipster 8 works nicely with Heroku. There were quite a few modifications that needed to be made.

Heroku is not free. With PostgreSQL and the Basic Dyno, it’s $12/month. I have lots of credits from Heroku, so I don’t mind paying for it.

It’d be cool to see a demo that deploys to Azure Container Apps! I’d love it if folks forked and built off the jhipster8-demo repo.

I plan to do it myself next year and integrate OpenFGA to do the authorization instead of the logic I added in this commit

Happy Holidays, everyone!

Matt
