Hello everyone,

I propose that we release JHipster 8.7.1 based on the code that is currently in the main branch. The primary reasons are for an ESLint warning fix and integrating Spring Boot’s Docker Compose support. I plan to do the release on Monday or Tuesday evening (MDT).

Please vote in the next 48 hours to approve this release.

+1 to release
-1 not to release (with reasons)

Release notes:

See the current draft at https://github.com/jhipster/generator-jhipster/releases.

Please use the 8.7.1 milestone if you'd to add additional issues to this release, or comment on this issue:

https://github.com/jhipster/generator-jhipster/issues/27102

Thanks,

Matt

Hello everyone,

There’s a couple of docs-related issues that need to be fixed before the release.

- Documentation archives don't render properly: 404s for JS and CSS files #27315
- Update jhipster-ansible project to support new website #27288

If these are fixed today, I can do the release this evening. Otherwise, it’ll have to wait until this weekend.

Regarding 8.7.1 vs 8.8.0, I feel like 8.7.1 is still valid because we fixed a ESLint error and added a new feature (Docker Compose support from Spring Boot). The new feature is backward-compatible. The new Spring Boot version doesn’t warrant a 8.8.0 version IMO because Spring Boot is a patch release too.

Thanks,

Matt

Hello team,

I believe I merged all of the relevant PRs to fix this, but I’m still not seeing it fixed at https://www.jhipster.tech/documentation-archive/v8.7.0/

I’ll wait a while and hope it’s a deployment delay. Then, I’ll close #27315 when it’s resolved. I hope to start the release in a few hours. I’ll comment on #27102 before I begin.

Cheers,

Matt
