This group is for parents, caregivers and families living in Jackson Heights, NY who are interested in building a community with other families.

Please do not email the group owner for access. Please request membership through the Google Groups interface, and explain why you would like to join. (Requests without any information will not be accepted).

Please follow basic community rules to keep this a resource for all. Remember we do not want to clog our neighbor's inboxes.

1. Be courteous and respectful
2. Before posting an inquiry, consider searching our archives for recommendations (i.e. contractors, services, local schools)
3. When giving away an item, put "for free" or "FF" in the subject line. When selling an item, put "for sale" or "FS" in the subject line.
4. Rather than separate posts, please put all your for sale/for free items in one email
5. Please share information about available housing/apartments/ rooms, but include rent and approximate locations
6. Feel free to share information about services/goods, but use the word "Commercial post" or "CP" in the subject line. Do not write the listserv more than 1-2 month about your business.
7. Avoid political debate and back and forth on the listserv. Community events that involve local issues and local elected officials are fine but a community listserv is not the place to debate issues. Please go to Facebook or consider creating your own political group.
8. We love the following: community resources, free events, volunteer opportunities (especially for teens), employment opportunities, childcare resources and recommendations (including day cares, preschools, nanny shares), general information about schools, educational opportunities, new restaurants and businesses
9. In general, it is advisable to directly respond to the person posting and not the whole listserv

Failure to follow these communities will lead to removal from the listserv. This resources works best when we all cooperate!
