Google now allows you to type easily in your local language-

http://www.google.com/intl/en/inputtools/try/

You can change the language from English to the one of your choice in the drop down. Then type the word you want using its closest spelling in English, for example, to spell "कितना" in Hindi, type "kitna" and Google will show you options from which you can select. 

Once you've finished typing, you can copy and paste it into word/excel, etc.- since Google uses Unicode, it is not too font-dependent. Hope you find this useful.
