Hi -

I recently switched to jGnash 3.5.1 and wanted to know if there is any way to export data to OFX or some other format that is supported by other apps, ie Gnucash, KMyMoney, HomeBank etc.

The reason is simple: Maybe one day I might want to switch apps for various reasons without being locked into an unsupported format. I know XML works but its not exactly universal.

I the 3.6 source I saw something called OfxExport.java however I did not figure out how to use it.  I compiled the source and there was nothing in the .zip file or the menu that would allow me to dump an OFX file from the application.

Thanks for the wonderful software and any guidance regarding this matter.

After quite a few tests I ended up exporting each account as CSV files  when I decided to move over to GNUcash - It took quite a lot of effort to get the imported transactions as I wanted. Switching apps is never painless, most will do a reasonable job of importing from the big commercial apps, but that is about it.

From a user interface point of view I much prefer JGnash, but unfortunately it is very reliant on a single developer who, after years of sterling work, seems to have been very quiet for well over 12 months raising concerns that not only would some of the long awaited improvements never materialize but also more things like online stock quotes not work again. I decided it was best to move whilst I had time to sort it out - after 6 months I have almost got used to GNUcash - it does most of what  I want and if I could get around to working out the custom reports I could probably get it to do everything I want.
