We all have a part to play.

J,

Since the Voting Rights Act was signed in 1965, the far-right has been exploring opportunities to wipe it out. This week, the Supreme Court might get them one step closer.

We know what this is all about: The court’s ruling in Louisiana v. Callais could help a deeply unpopular Republican Party hold onto the U.S. House of Representatives in 2026. And that’s what President Trump wants — because his extremist agenda is so unpopular, he can’t fairly win another majority in Congress.

In pursuit of unchecked presidential power, SCOTUS could upend one of the last remaining tools available to protect the right to vote for Black people and other historically disenfranchised Americans.

Eliminating Section 2 of the VRA, which prohibits racially discriminatory voting practices, would wipe out minority representation and lead to the resegregation of city councils, school boards, and legislatures across the country.

Trump and his oligarchs are looking at every possible opportunity to maintain control of Congress. They are redrawing congressional maps across the country, challenging lawful, existing maps and trying to make it harder for people to vote and harder for Republicans to lose.

TAKE ACTION NOW: Everyone has a part to play in stopping Trump’s authoritarian power grab, and we have to make every day count. We have fought too hard over many generations to allow our rights to be taken away by the billionaire class. If you’re ready to join the fight today, donate to the NAACP Black Voter Defense Fund!
