POWER IN THE STORM

Power In The Storm

As frontline communities continue to face stronger and more frequent climate-related disasters, the urgency for action and locally led actions is now. Federal resources, including those from FEMA, are shrinking just as the scale of disasters grows, leaving many Black, Latine, Indigenous, and other frontline communities at disproportionate risk of catastrophic harm.

Power in the Storm” is designed to meet this moment. This toolkit equips NAACP members and partners with the knowledge, strategies, and organizing tools needed to build resilience, demand equity in disaster response, and hold all levels of government accountable. The future of disaster resilience depends on communities leading the way, and this toolkit ensures that our members are not only ready to respond, but also have the resiliency training to lead next steps.

PROTECT BLACK WORKERS

Protect Black Workers

The latest jobs report revealed a sharp rise in the Black unemployment rate, jumping to 7.2%, the highest in nearly five years. By comparison, the overall U.S. rate is 4.2%, exposing a widening gap that continues to leave Black workers behind.

Behind these numbers are real families bearing the weight of massive federal job cuts—impacting Black women most—and the rollback of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs that once opened doors to opportunity.

We’re calling on the White House and Congress to act now to protect Black jobs and build pathways to equity. Add your name to demand action.

    No healthcare. No vote.

While the federal government remains shut down, the health and well-being of millions of Americans hang in the balance. Let us be clear: Healthy people = a healthy country. There can be no funding that doesn’t protect healthcare.

    We’re calling on Congress to:

✅ Pass a funding bill that protects affordable healthcare for ALL Americans.
    ✅ Reopen the government ASAP.

Join us in urging lawmakers to put the well-being of the American people first.
