1. The JMFM Friends video of our upcoming experience arrived in the
mail! What a treat! I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants an
overview (60 mins - not short) of what we are to experience on the
trip to Japan! It is full of wonderful images and music, and really
gives me a great feeling that the adventure is about to begin!
2. Email. Oh my. The listserv opened today, and when I arrived home
there were...52 emails with more coming in every moment! These were
all greetings from fellow participants! I have already discovered
three others who are in the same prefecture group as myself. This
flood of information has really been a blessing. Now I feel that I am
not alone in this venture!
The main thrust of most emails (besides a quick introduction of the
senders) was to see what everyone was interested in doing on our "day
off". It seems that every other day during the three weeks is pretty
much planned to the hour, but the first Saturday after arriving is our
chance to explore on our own. It seem that the progam used to allow
two days off for the participants - until someone decided to leave the
country on that weekend and go to China. Too bad for us, but one day
is still great!
Right now, I am torn. We CAN make it to Kyoto via bullet train
(Shinkansen), which is what I would love to do, but it would be a full
day. Closer to Tokyo is Nikko, the resting place of the first Tokugawa
shogun, and a wonderful day trip. I will keep searching the emails to
see which would be a better trip for me!
All for now! 1 1/2 weeks until....zoom!
