building my own maps

hi, I am looking for a "step by step guide" in order to build internal migration flows in Uruguay. I,ve the shapes files and the matrix of flows. Could you please let me know where can I learn how to built these maps. Thaks in advance. Daniel

Tks IIya!!. I followed the steps. I could built flows but I couldn't see the map (using ine_depto.shp for Uruguayan provinces)   http://www.ine.gub.uy/mapas/mapas2011/shapes.rar

Could you please let me how how to meddle in the process to see the maps.

The tool is very useful for my current protyect.

These maps have too high resolution, you should simplify them first. You can use http://mapshaper.com/test/MapShaper.swf for that. 

Then just specify the shapefile in the config file like here:

map=shapefile
map.shapefile.src=data/shapefiles/world.shp


map.projection=Mercator
