To All:

I found this letter, sent to me in 1984 by Anna (nee Charap) Jaffe,
and thought it should be dispersed to the Jezierna diaspora with the
hope that it leads to further connections. This gentleman is now 44
years old and may be still reside in Argentina.

Thanks for sharing, this Zen. Could this letter lead us to the missing link
connection between the Argentine and U.S. Charaps?

Dear All,

I'm well acquainted with Harry and his mother. Weve known each other for
well over 10 years. As a matter of fact, when Susan Lieberman and her
beloved husband were in Buenos Aires I arranged a meeting that was
unfortunately frustrated by Tom's illness.

We've gone through everything we know about our families and found no
connection. Though he knows his family originated in Galitzia and had been
Jewish, it wasn't in Jezierna though I can't remember the name of the
town(shetl) he mentioned. I also know he was in contact with Susan some
years ago and they didn't find any connection either.

When we arranged the meeting with Susan, he told me that his mother had
received about 15.000 pounds as part of the inheritance of to him, an
unknown member of the Charap family, Silvia Roskopt or Rotkopf, he told me
that they had been contacted by English attorneys and also given a family
tree copy of which he was supposed to give us at the meeting with Susan.

I asked him for that family tree various times however, never obtained it.
I guessed his mother was against the distribution of the same.............
However, he did contact me a few months ago when Mercedes, the cousin I
recovered, contacted many of my facebook contacts, including him. He was
most interested in knowing her financial situation.

Cordially
Freda

Dear Charap,

I’m an eighteen year old member of the Charap family. My late grandfather
Myer Charap (also known as Nick or Martin), who came out to the Argentine
Republic at the end of 1929, at the age of 27, never spoke much about his
family except his brothers and sisters.

I have lately been corresponding with my Great Uncle Mervyn Charap and we
have become most interested in tracking down members of the family, even if
distant.

He informed me that there is a branch of the family in U.S.A., so through
the kindness of the U.S. Embassy in Bs Aires, I obtained your address from
the telephone directory.
I would be most grateful if you would answer this letter letting me know if
you have any connection with the English branch of the family.

All I know so far is that Myer Charap’s father was Jaque Charap married to
Sarah Frenkel or Franklin.
Thanking you in anticipation,
Yours sincerely,

Harry James Charap

My complete address is:
“Quinta Reimin” (there seems to be a letter missing)
Sta Teresa 93
(1834) Turdera
Pcia de Bs As
