Jezierna calling for support - 1928

the attached letter, 2 pages, printed in Yiddish, blue on white, was sent from Jezierna to the families who emigrated from jezierna to America. with My very faint Yiddish knowledge I understood the general idea, not the details.

this is a call for the Jeziernian community in America and Canada to donate money (at least 20 $ ) to the Jewish community in their home -town. the money will serve to rebuild and strengthen the cultural Jewish life,  damaged during the years of the war (first world war, of course), by building a Jewish club or meeting house (בית ועד)

The letter is signed by many names,I  believe some of them are familiar to you.

I want to ask the group members, (if the group still exists):

1/ to try and help me in translating the whole document to Hebrew or English.

2/ does any body know if donations were given and if this house was built?

מצורף מכתב שנשלח ב- 1928 ליוצאי יז'רנה באמריקה וקנדה. ממעט היידיש שהבנתי  במכתב מבקשים ראשי הקהילה היהודית ביז'רנה לסייע להם לשקם את חיי הקהילה, שנפגעו קשות עקב מלחמת העולם הראשונה, ולתרום לבניית בית ועד שבו תוכל להתקיים פעילות תרבות יהודית.

האם מישהו יכול לסייע בתרגום המכתב?

האם מישהו יודע האם גוייס הכסף והבנין אכן נבנה?

Dear Talila,

 

Unfortunately, I can¡t be of much help to you though I wish I could understand the names that signed.  I¡m pretty sure that my grandparents emigrated to Vienna with their children before 1928 though I don¡t know the exact year.  I wonder if my greatgrand parents stayed in Jezierna however, I don¡t know their names.

 

I was just remembering that somewhere I have a photo of my grandmother.  As soon as I find it I¡ll send it on to see if someone perhaps recognizes her in some family photo.
