Forthe last 2 and a half years there has been a financial decimation on the self employed and freelancers. During this time and for the most part only corporations and institutions have escaped certain economic realities and it is clear this itself will soon change.
To address such issues and spare good people insults undeserved I thought perhaps it might be prudent to address the issue being raised by many users here and elsewhere online using the corporate parlance of Equity , Inclusion and Partnership.
The way I see it if Maxon were as creative and forward thinking with these concepts they would lead the field both creatively and economically.May I therefore posit some positive suggestions for who knows, maybe somebody might read this.
1,Use a learning, education , training and asset marketplace to subsidise the cost of the software;
2, Offer global equity on pricing
3, Offer equity on pricing differentials between corporate employees and freelancers
4, Offer equity on pricing for the unemployed, the disabled and sick etc
5,Do all of this on trust.
We run computer labs in the Visual and Performing Arts in a medium-sized University. We used one-time funding to get ZBrush initially because its cost (even for Education) was well outside our normal budget limits. During online learning early in the Pandemic, Pixologic was great to deal with and we successfully taught the course that used ZBrush. We budgeted for an upgrade fee but were pleasantly surprised when the upgrade was at no charge. We even added a few extra seats with the budgeted upgrade money recently. Big kudos to the Pixologic staff for years of great service.
You said you were hoping you could stick with 2022 for the next while. You can. Any student that gets an academic subscription is not forced into ZBrush 2023. They can instead choose to install ZBrush 2022. You can thus all be on the same version.
Regarding deployment, while the Maxon App must be running on all lab machines, it does not have to be used for deployment of ZBrush. The ZBrush installer can be downloaded from My Maxon and then deployed using the same silent installation systems that you have used for previous versions.
700 for slime and a better zremesher? Nothing to blow your skirt up about that is for sure. Keyshot bridge is better anyway. Not worth the license not worth the upgrade. This 2023 update was nothing more than a patch for the pre-Maxon Pixologic folks. Maxon has ruined Zbrush like the single pay Forger. The future of Zbrush is kicking it out the door. Nomad and Zbrush 2022 for ever! What a waste.
Going this cashgrab route is just going to run artists off to blender, 3DCoat, Nomad or one of the many other options that are popping up daily. Keeping your dignity will make-up for a lot of deficiencies in software. Hopefully, Maxon will rethink their perpetual license pricing soon.
I completely agree. I see no value in a subscription for end users. I have a perpetual license and the upgrade fee is like purchasing a new license all over again. Absolutely ridiculous. I am not asking for free updates which we have received for many years. We are all hurting with rising costs for food, services, bills etc. I am happy to upgrade my perpetual license, just make it affordable for artists like me (who receive no income for my work and time) to continue using Zbrush with all the new updates. Locking the updates to subscription only is terrible and unfair, especially to all the loyal customers Pixologic had. I see so many leaving to learn Nomad Scupt or Blender which are also great tools. I love Zbrush, and hope to continue using it with the new updates and stability improvements on Mac.
The add-on numeration of these folders does not match exactly with the Blender version number, instead, it is based on various development factors. Please use the table below to find the correct version of the Redshift add-on for your version of Blender.
Then click on the check box next to "Render: Redshift Render Engine" to complete the configuration of Redshift for Blender. Please take a look at the Getting Started with Blender section to become more familiar with using Redshift in Blender.
Updating Redshift for Blender requires most of the same steps as a first time install but this time the previously added "redshift" folder must be deleted from Blender's addons folder and replaced with the latest version.
As of R21, only a single version of Cinema 4D is available. It replaces all previous variants, including BodyPaint 3D, and includes all features of the past 'Studio' variant. With R21, all binaries were unified. There is no technical difference between commercial, educational, or demo versions. The difference is now only in licensing.2014 saw the release of Cinema 4D Lite, which came packaged with Adobe After Effects Creative Cloud 2014. "Lite" acts as an introductory version, with many features withheld. This is part of a partnership between the two companies, where a Maxon-produced plug-in, called Cineware, allows any variant to create a seamless workflow with After Effects. The "Lite" variant is dependent on After Effects CC, needing the latter application running to launch, and is only sold as a package component included with After Effects CC through Adobe.
Initially, Cinema 4D was developed for Amiga computers in the early 1990s, and the first three versions of the program were available exclusively for that platform. With v4, however, Maxon began to develop the application for Windows and Macintosh computers as well, citing the wish to reach a wider audience and the growing instability of the Amiga market following Commodore's bankruptcy. It was also released for BeOS.[2]
From R12 to R20, Cinema 4D was available in four variants. A core Cinema 4D 'Prime' application, a 'Broadcast' version with additional motion-graphics features, 'Visualize,' which adds functions for architectural design and 'Studio,' which includes all modules.
From Release 8 until Release 11.5, Cinema 4D had a modular approach to the application, with the ability to expand upon the core application with various modules. This ended with Release 12, though the functionality of these modules remains in the different flavors of Cinema 4D (Prime, Broadcast, Visualize, Studio)
Cinebench is a cross-platform test suite which tests a computer's hardware capabilities. It can be used as a test for Cinema 4D's 3D modeling, animation, motion graphic and rendering performance on multiple CPU cores. The program "target[s] a certain niche and [is] better suited for high-end desktop and workstation platforms".[13]
@Ann BensThis product takes up too much space. I have uninstalled all the versions but I DON'T WANT this product even on my computer. This is spam! Adobe has an agreement with Maxon that allows them to backdoor my computers and slip their software on. This product is a security risk.
Thank you for reaching out, Cinema 4D is installed as part of the Adobe AfterEffects suite, as a free "lite" licence is available through AfterEffects by going to File - New - Maxon Cinema 4D file.
This would activate Cinema 4D and allow you to use the Lite version for free.
This is automatically installed with Adobe AfterEffects, so removing it will mean the next update AE will put it back.
Hope that helps explain the situation.
6. Also, did you know that Maxon from time to time screenshots your desktop? Microsoft is black border, Adobe is white border and Maxon is gray border. They do this when there is no activity on your computer.
As a practical note, most of your last post is either gibberish or irrelevant to getting this functioning on your machine. Which is all most of us around here care about ... getting your rig working better. We aren't staffers for anyone, and can't set any decisions by anyone either Adobe or any other entity.
I checked ... and my Maxon/RedGiant stuff is only the latest versions. So it is puzzling to me why there's so much older Maxon on your rig. I've the full RG Universe, a few other things. All again only the most recent.
As to Maxon's help ... their first response tends to be 1) a bit slow and 2) rather pedantic, like your post above. I had an issue during the changeover from RG to Maxon/RG where the license wouldn't recognize it was licensed.
And yea, I got the type of response you got. But I shot back saying this ain't fixing my problem, and within a couple more days got someone responding directly to my troubles. And at that point, the fix was finally ... quickly ... achieved.
Now as to forum etiquette ... Ann, like nearly everyone posting here, is volunteering a ton of time to help other users. None of us are staffers, paid for the time we put in, or have ANY authority or say in how Adobe, Maxon, or any other company goes about their business.
As per her posts here ... Ann has demonstrated over many years of involvement, across so many different aspects of this complicated app, that she has a nearly encylopedic knowledge of the thing. The breadth and depth of her continually demonstrated knowledge approaches Jarle Leirpoll, the guy that wrote by far the best most detailed book on pro use of Premiere ever written.
I highly doubt you could match her across the app. I certainly can't! Like most users, I have areas I know well, some that even the engineers call on for advice. But there are SO many complicated and complex parts of this app, where I feel I know (at least to me) nothing or nearly nothing about.
When Ann, Warren, mgrenadier, Richard, a number of the other 'regulars' hop on, you are getting experienced assistance volunteered from people that are both quite knowledgeable in their own pro workflows and good at troubleshooting.
If you have recently updated the system, this will most likely be the reason for the problem, because older versions of Maxon are no longer supported, so these versions have begun to suffer from problems with Mac system updates. The reason may also be the installation of other programs that may cause overlap in system files with Cinema 4D, here are some troubleshooting tips for resolving the issue with Cinema 4D on Mac:
