The Pakistani film Bedari had an identical plot and the songs, with replacement of some words, and music taken directly from Jagriti.[4] Ratan Kumar (Syed Nazir Ali),[5] who had moved to Pakistan with his family, acted in Bedari also.[6] When Bedari was released in Pakistan in 1956, it too made fabulous business in the first few weeks of exhibition. However, it dawned upon the Pakistani cinemagoers that they were watching a plagiarized film. There was a mass uproar that caused public demonstrations against exhibition of the plagiarized film. The Censor Board of Pakistan immediately put a ban on this film.[7]

Japanese Americans in Redwood City Historian Jagruti Patel, a Canada College professor, will lead an open forum on the lives of Japanese Americans who immigrated to Redwood City before and after World War II. The program, free and open to the public, will be held from 9:45 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 15, in the college's Main Theater, 4200 Farm Hill Blvd. in Woodside.Ms. Patel attended Woodside High School and graduated from Menlo School. She is a graduate of UC Davis and received her master's degree in history from San Jose State University.

Lads sell valentines for tsunami relief Seven Menlo Park and Atherton boys are asking friends and neighbors to "Have a Heart" and purchase valentines to aid tsunami relief. Reid Schultz, Alex Amato, Kris Campbell-Coleman, Phillip Giori and Ryan Scandlyn, eighth-graders at La Entrada School, were looking for a clever way to raise money for tsunami relief, when Reid's younger brother, Parker, thought up a heart theme. That morphed into making valentines.Money raised goes to the Tsunami Aid Fund, sponsored by the Menlo Park Presbyterian Church.
