One of our members has asked how to contribute to this worthy project - sorry for not including that information.
The Remembrance & Reconcilation foundation - a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization - was created
for the specific purpose of restoring and maintaining the Jewish cemetery in Przemysl It is now also
the driving force behind the proposed conversion of the building to a Cultural Center. R&R has the support
of FODZ (Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland), which is the legal
owner
of the cemetery and the synagogue on behalf of the Jewish community. I have worked closely
with FODZ on a number of projects here in Poland.
David Semmel, the founder and manager of the Przmeysl Forum and Blog is on the Board of
Directors of R&R (as am I), and I am sure he would be happy to comment further.
David is very involved in the mechanics of the new project, and he can
best advise how
to "ear-mark" any donations specifically for the new synagogue building conversion project.
There is a link to "Contribute" at the top of the R&R website:
I am also taking the liberty of attaching an article I have submitted for publication
to the next issue (December 2014) of Gesher Galicia's The Galitzianer.
Please do not publicly re-print this, as The Galitzianer is for paid GG members only.
I
share it here so our group can have more information on the idea and
vision behind R&R's project for the synagogue - with the hope to get
some or many of you interested in financially supporting this project and/or fundraising for it.
The photos I submitted are also attached.
Thanks and warm regards,
Marla
