Dear colleagues:

Does anyone know where I can find a reliable Arabic to Hebrew transliteration table, for converting modern Arabic titles into Hebrew characters?

Thank you for your help.

Best wishes,

Try this out:

http://ok-board.com/hebrew.htm
&

http://ok-board.com/arabic.htm

just compare the both and input hebrew characters into corresponding
cell on the arabic page and start working. :)

Hi lital,

The Hebrew-Arabic classic dictionary "Ayalon Shinaar" has a good
reliable table. The matter is also described well on the Hebrew Wiki
page
כללים לתעתיק מערבית
I tried copy-pasting the link here but it somehow didn't work with all
the Hebrew in the link. But I'm sure you can find it.

You should decide if you want the more scientific one or the one
that's close to the way it sound (used in Israeli Journalism, for
example).

Good luck and regards,

Zehavit

Lital,

I forgot to mention that the Arabic Ta Marbuta is sometimes renders as a He’ with two dots over it (rather than a Taw with two dots over it).

The system officially established in Israel is specified here: http://hebrew-academy.huji.ac.il/PDF/taatiq2007.pdf  That's intended mainly for maps, roadsigns, and personal names, and not necessarily for bibliographies.  I think that Israeli libraries (unlike libraries inthe US) simply use the original Arabic script, rather than transliteration, in their catalogues.

The Hebrew Language Academy has set standards for transliteration from various orthographies (including Arabic) into the Hebrew orthography, all of which may be downloaded here:
