Hey,good to hear from you too.Very interesting arguement.and maybe just to chip in to that I'd like to say that many times we do pray for things that never come to pass simply because they are not in accordance with God's will. There's a plan that God has for our lives that has to happen regardless of what we do,and whether we like it or not.
There's a time during the exodus that God was so mad at the Israelites and wanted to destroy them then raise a nation from Moses.Moses pleaded to God and He relented from that(Exodus 32:9-14).
Moses' prayer was in accordance with God's will.He had already pre-destined a heritage for Abraham's descendant's and He was never going to turn His back on His promise. He had promised to build a great nation out of Israel. The Israelites were to get to Canaan,no matter how long it took. Therefore God formulated a stategy to do away with that generation of Israelites and made sure none of the people of that generation would see the promised land except the two.and,we see that,at the end of the day,God's will and purpose prevail for the glory and honour of His name.
So the first step we as Christians should take is to acknowledge the will of God in our lives, and only after we do that will we appreciate why things happen the way they do.
And therefore the prayer we should constantly make is that God may open the eyes of our hearts that we may see, perceive and discern His His good, pleasing and perfect will.(Rom 12:2).Be blest.
Regards.
