Description: Position Summary: The Sales Manager, Strategic Sales Engagement, is responsible for driving sales growth through new business development and expansion of existing accounts. This role manages sales activities for existing clients, prospective clients, and network clients, while collaborating closely with business development teams, operations, and other business units across global and local markets. The Sales Manager plays a key role in building a flexible, multicultural sales organization and securing new business opportunities through cross-selling, tenders, and strategic account management.
Key Responsibilities: 1. New Business Development (Cross-Selling Focus) Identify and develop new business opportunities in collaboration with global and domestic offices Research, prospect, and qualify new opportunities within assigned territory, industry, or market Conduct customer visits and build strong relationships with prospective clients Increase market share and achieve assigned targets for volume, revenue, and profit Prepare and deliver proposals and presentations, recommending new services or enhancements Address client objections and successfully close new business Take initiative in periodic tenders within assigned clients, territories, or industries Manage and distribute sales leads across international and domestic offices Successfully onboard new clients after deal closure Accurately record sales activities and pipeline in the CRM system Track performance using new business audits
2. Existing Account Management & Expansion Expand business with existing clients through cross-selling opportunities Maintain regular communication to ensure high client satisfaction Manage pricing requests, service proposals, and contract renewals Review and update account profitability Resolve sales, service, or delivery issues in collaboration with operations teams Support customers with logistics solutions, including transportation schedules and routing Advise clients on regulatory requirements, loading methods, freight handling, and special equipment needs Ensure a thorough understanding of customer requirements and service offerings Maintain accurate CRM records and performance tracking
3. Coordination with Operations & Business Units Collaborate with operations teams to ensure the highest level of service delivery Proactively identify and resolve operational issues affecting clients Coordinate shipments with shippers, carriers, truckers, warehouses, and internal teams as needed Work with the credit department to establish credit terms and letters of credit for new accounts Provide internal reports on rates, carrier usage, and operational challenges Liaise with U.S. and overseas offices on joint or targeted customers Participate in client-facing educational programs and initiatives Maintain detailed records of sales calls, presentations, follow-ups, and closed deals Engage in local business events and networking activities to promote the company’s brand and value proposition Coordinate with operations and accounting on outstanding or financial issues related to assigned clients
4. Sales Management & Reporting Achieve annual sales volume and P&L targets in alignment with VP, Director, or senior management Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for major and key accounts Participate in joint sales calls, cross-regional sales initiatives, and internal sales/BD meetings Prepare and submit required sales reports on a regular basis
