Hi,

First post here.

I dont like the stock firmware on the Inventor, and I've been looking at Sailfish .... However, it doesnt specifically mention this printer. Yes, it's a clone. However, Sailfish refers to REV F,G,H Mightyboards etc .... The one in my printer is a Coreboard Rev H, with an ARM 3 processor, not a MEGA2560.... Hence my question.

I have asked on https://3dprintboard.com/, but with no response. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Keith

The Dreamer, Finder, Inventor, Inventor II, Inventor IIs, Guider, Guider II, Guider IIs, and Adventurer 3 all run Sailfish natively. More specifically, they run 32bit firmwares which are based in part on Sailfish.

Dan, Thanks for the very prompt response!!

So, to be clear, it is a closed source version of Sailfish ? And it is possible to upgrade to the real version using the published open source sailfish docs ?

I'm asking because I ( where ever possible ) prefer to use opensource and modifiable software. I have 3 home built printers (CoreXY using Duet Wifi ), and a cube running on an MKS Sbase, plus another work in progress.

I should have also asked which replicator is the FF Inventor a clone of ? Google isnt my friend with this, and I dont want to make a mistake.

None. It's not a clone. I believe it was the original first cut at the Dreamer. The
Flashforge Creator series are clones of the MakerBot Replicator 1.

And the original Flashforge printer, the "Adventurer" was a clone of the Thing-o-Matic, the
immediate predecessor to the Replicator 1. (When the Replicator 1 first came out, it was
just known as the Replicator.)

The soon to appear Adventurer 3 is an all new design with no relationship to the old
Adventurer's of 2010/11.

Looks like Im stumped with this for several reasons.

The FF Inventor drivers despite uninstalling keep reappearing in win 10...and it presents itself as FF Inventor rather than as a com port.

Secondly, without knowing which firmware to install based on its derivative clone means I could 'brick' the machine, and thats a $1000 risk I dont want to take.

Appreciate the help though. Thank you,

I believe that's normal: it is not a USB CDC or HID class device. The only things which can talk to it over USB are (1) Flashprint, and (2) maybe Simplify3D.

It's a closed-source machine. Your ONLY source for firmware is that which Flashforge makes available.
