The earth quake in Nepal is an example of the trouble. When faced with any challenge or trouble, through the recitation of Sundara Ka:nda, one will be able to over come them. Therefore, to mitigate the troubles, and for world peace, our compassionate Sri SwamiJi has been doing Sundaraka:nda pa:rayanam from the beginning of this year and will be continuing through the rest of the year.We are fortunate that this year, we have an Adhika ma:sam and that too in A:sha:da masam.A few points of significance:Adhika Ma:sam is an artifact of states that follow Lunar (and consequently Luni-Solar) Calendar - like that of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat. The adhika ma:sam helps the Lunar calendar to reconcile with Solar Calendar, thus making it Luni-Solar calendar. Every 32 months, 16 days and 8 ghadiyas (1 ghadiya = 24 minutes), this reconciliation happens and we get an extra month.Ashada Ma:sam marks the beginning of the year when our dear Lord is engrossed in planning for the rest of the year and goes into Yoga nidra. He is contemplating on what is the best course of future action so souls like us can get out of this cycle and rut. It is recommended that, in this month, we too should focus on planning for our future. Incidentally, this ma:sam also marks the starting of Cha:tur Ma:syam or 4 months of planning.Adhika Asha:da Ma:sam occurs very rarely. We are fortunate that this adhika ma:sam came during a:shada ma:sam. An important artifact of this adhika asha:da ma:sam is that Puri Jagannath Swami gets a new body (called Nava Kalebaram). See link. Since his body is made out of wood, with all the abhishekas and such, the wood has a life span and during this month, it is time for a change of body. This year, the tree from which Puri Jagannath and his pariva:ram is remade has been identified and is en route to Puri.Adhika a:shada ma:sam this year in US is from 06/16/2015 - 07/15/2015. Swamiji's recommendation for us is to use this time in promoting world peace. Time commitment for each family every day - 1 minute. In just 1 minute a day during this month, you will have taken part as a global team to recite 2806 slokas of Sundaraka:nda. This is possible by each one of us chanting 1 assigned sloka per family member. If you are wondering what is in it for me, with just 1 minute of your time, thanks to the 2805 others, you will get the benefit of reciting 2806 slokas. This has to happen exactly at 11:30 PM ET from 06/16/2015 - 07/15/2015.Call to Action Are you game? If so, follow these simple steps:1) Register / Acknowledge your participation by clicking here. Please don't delay2) Look over the flyer and listen to the MP3 for uchharana (pronunciation) and for the link to the entire Sundaraka:nda3) Put your alarms on for 11:25 PM, wake up as a family, recite and go back to bed.We will have been chanting together as a team globally, completed our tasks and also receive the benefit thanks to the team.Come Join us for World Peace and for your individual success as well.Information is below.
